Shadow transit

Weather was lousy yesterday, but the astronomical seeing was pretty good after midnight, and I was able to capture several videos in between the clouds. I was very surprised to see so much detail in the cloud belts, that’s certainly pushing the limits of my little telescope.

This was also the first time that I captured a transit shadow on Jupiter’s surface!

Jupiter’s moon Io is roughly the same size as Earth’s moon, but 2000 times farther away.
